Missions Update – Canton Team Day 1

We are pleased to report that the Bennettsville, South Carolina team reaturned home safely on Saturday evening, and that Marcela Jarmam returned safely from Costa Rica with her team on Sunday evening.

The Canton, Ohio team arrived safely on Sunday evening and had their first full day of work today. Below are their updates.

Canton Team Update #1 – Monday Morning

We made it safely to Bear Creek Campground around 4pm after several stops along the road. We arrived after the rain came through “weathered” by Don and Donna in their RV.

Many teens enjoyed a quick dip in the pool or played cards. We enjoyed a fabulous spaghetti dinner, followed by Fellowship around the campfire and evening devotions. After receiving work site assignments, we retired for the night to our respective accommodations.

We are headed out to our worksites this morning after enjoying a delicious egg sandwich breakfast.
We’re expecting storms later today but know God will be with us!

Thanks for the prayers and all your support! Keep them coming!

Canton Team Update #2 – Monday Night

Our first full day in the greater Canton area was rewarding in many ways. The youngest portion of our team made beaded stained glass sun catchers. These will be presented to the home owners and Habitat workers on Friday.

We were able to work at 2 worksites on homes side by side today. We met homeowners Victoria and Shelly who were sweating alongside us today.

Shelly’s home was successfully framed and we raised all 4 walls! GO TEAM!!

Victoria’s home was only a basement when we arrived. The day was spent finishing the deck/floor and framing 2 walls! GO TEAM!!

Many new participants=many new skills! 🙂

We were cooled off by a lunch time shower and then got right back to work!

Dick – a Habitat site volunteer and the donor of the trailer we acquired last year – led us in our daily devotions with his usual jokes and humor too.

The lead Habitat volunteers on our sites, also known as the Thursday Crew, have been awarded the Ohio volunteers of the year in 2013 and 2014. Such a blessing to be working and learning along side these fine devoted men!! They work all week when we are here, not just on Thursday.

We dined on a taco bar with all the fixins and were treated with apple crisp to finish off the meal.

Tonight’s devotions included sharing ways we saw God’s love in action and what fears we overcame so far this trip. It is easy to see how God is working through our team already.

We are blessed and well fed and headed to bed early tonight.

Continue to wrap us in prayer as we work being God’s hands and feet.
