May the Lord cause you to increase and enrich your love for each other and for everyone in the same way as we also love you.
—1 Thessalonians 3:12
Mother Teresa of Calcutta was a pint-size missionary nun, whose road to saintliness took her from her home country of Macedonia to India. First, she taught schoolgirls. Then she was called to tend the poor who lived on the streets. The work was grueling and filthy, but she helped others without a thought for herself.
For many years, Mother Teresa endured the anguish of spiritual emptiness. But she didn’t despair. She kept working, binding wounds, speaking words to comfort troubled minds, ministering to those God placed in her path. She knew that God wanted her to focus on other people and to spread God’s love.
Mother Teresa wanted everyone to know that joy is more than happiness. Joy is found in a holy life dedicated to others.
O Lord, the great provider, teach me to offer the bread of life to others. Amen.
What fills your cup and gives you joy? Share that joy with someone today.
