This Sunday December 17 we will celebrate the Third Sunday of the Advent Season at Sterling United Methodist Church. Our new sermon series, A Night for Rejoicing continues.
This Sunday is an exciting day as our choir presents this year’s Christmas Cantata. The cantata is from A Night for Rejoicing: A Cantata for Christmas by Lee Dengler and Susan Naus Dengler. The program will be performed at the 9 AM and 11 AM service. Our 10 AM Amigos Spanish language worship service will not be held on Sunday December 17 as a result.
And, this Sunday is also our new 11 AM Service Pizza Sunday if you attend our 11 AM Cantata Service we invite you to stay for a time of pizza and fellowship in Gallihugh Hall (our fellowship hall) after the service.
Please be sure to also worship with us on Sunday December 24 at one of our Christmas Eve Services. We will have five services on Christmas Eve including our Amigos Spanish language service at 10 AM; our Sterling UMC children will perform their Christmas Pageant and Children’s service at 11 AM; and there will be three candlelight and communion services that evening at 7 PM, 9 PM, and 11 PM.
On Christmas Day our annual Shepherd’s Run mission event will occur. Shepherd’s Run is an event where volunteers gather at the church then fan out with small gifts of food and the spirit of Jesus and Christmas as they visit those who are serving our community on Christmas Day. We will be visiting like our first responders, law enforcement, hospital and other health care workers. Donations of baked goods can be brought to the Christmas Eve service and placed in Room 105. If you would like to participate with the Shepherd’s Run on Christmas Day meet at the church at 11 AM for carols and assignments!
So please join us this Sunday for some beautiful music and return to worship with us on Christmas Eve!
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only son”John 1:14, NIV
