We are quickly approaching the last Sunday in January 2018!
Soon we will be entering into the Lent season which begins with Ash Wednesday, this year on Valentine’s Day Wednesday, February 14!
However, before we get to the season of Lent there is so much going on in the life of our church!
This Sunday, January 28 will be week four of Pastor Steve’s sermon series based on the book Unbeaten: How Biblical heroes rose above their pain…and you can too; and the quote, “pain is inevitable, but defeat is not.”
And the following Sunday, February 4, start your Super Sunday off with a super pancake breakfast sponsored by the Sterling United Methodist Women which will be from 8 AM until 12:30 PM.
Then attend one of our super worship services at 9 AM (Traditional), 10 AM (Spanish Language), or 11 AM (Contemporary with the Praise Band).
Also at 10 AM you can choose to use your time of study, prayer, serving, or fellowship in the best way that meets your needs in the Growing Deeper at Ten hour. Each week there are multiple Bible study groups including young adult, adult, and Spanish language. Other sessions include prayer, Christian family discussion, digging deeper into this week’s message, and serving our local missions.
And if you are a young person, our LifeSigns youth group will be having a special event by hosting a Super Bowl party with food and the game Sunday evening at the church.
The weekend of February 9, 10, and 11 hosts two of Sterling UMC’s special mission efforts; GRACE Ministry and Backpack Buddies. GRACE Ministries is a food and clothing distribution supporting our local Sterling and surrounding communities. You can help set up on Friday afternoon or help at the distribution from 7 AM to 11 AM (actual distribution 8 AM to 10 AM) on Saturday. Donations are being received now for Backpack Buddies supporting kids at Rolling Ridge Elementary. The packing of the “backpacks” will occur Sunday February 11 during our Growing Deeper at Ten hour.
We invite you to come and experience the joy of Jesus Christ in our worship, our Christian development, and our serving others in our community.
Sterling UMC is a community church and all are welcome to visit and attend our services and support our mission efforts.
