At The Table With Jesus

Last Sunday our new sermon series Lessons of Easter continued with part two called “Meeting the Risen Christ.”   This week Pastor Steve will deliver the final sermon of the series with a sermon titled “At the Table with Jesus” and the story of the walk to Emmaus.

29But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.30When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him. and he disappeared from their sight.

Luke 24:29-31.

Communion will be served at all services this first Sunday of the month.

Our 9 AM service is the traditional service and our Children’s Service takes place at the same time in our Gallihugh Fellowship Hall.  Our 11 AM Contemporary Service features the music of our Praise Band.

Pastor Marcela Jarmon leads the Spanish language service in the sanctuary at 10 AM.   Also at 10 AM our adult Bible studies, fellowship coffee, and mission ministry will be occurring throughout the church.  A schedule of activities and locations is available in the bulletin and on the screen in the lobby.

The past weekend the Sunday school classes assisted in planting the seeds that will grow beans and Swiss chard for DeShong’s Gift Back; a non-profit organization whose mission is to supply fresh vegetables to food pantries, shelters, and churches like Sterling United Methodist Church. Volunteers are welcome to help throughout the season to maintain and harvest. Please contact the office if you would like more information.

Our United Methodist Women will have their monthly meeting Monday, May 7 at 7:00 PM in the church fellowship hall (Gallihugh). The  speaker will be from INMED, an international organization with a local branch who works with children at risk. Refreshments will be served, and women and anyone interested in hearing the speaker are welcome to attend the presentation.
