He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Mark 4:39-40
This week, as we wrap up the final clean up from the annual “storm” that is our yard sale, this scripture seems so fitting. For the last four weeks, when it seemed like we wouldn’t have enough donations, or enough volunteers, or enough turn out to make the sale successful due to the weather; the calm that is normal church activity begins to return, and begs the question, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Thanks to everyone who supported our annual fundraiser with donations, volunteer time, and purchases. We were blessed with another successful year. Proceeds from this event will go back into the Sterling community by supporting Mission efforts such as GRACE Ministry and Backpack Buddies.
This week our sermon series, Lessons from the Gospel of Mark part two continues with this very same scripture, Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4:35-41) and a sermon titled “Close Calls.”
Since it is the first Sunday of the month, Communion will be served at all services. All are welcome to participate in Communion.
