This Sunday Why Not Enjoy Lunch at Church

This Sunday Why Not Enjoy Lunch at Church

This week we have an opportunity for fellowship following our 11 AM Contemporary worship service. Our monthly pizza and salad lunch will be served in the Gallihugh Fellowship Hall at approximately 12 PM. All are invited to attend our 11 AM service and join the group for lunch right after.  Or, if you wish to attend one of our earlier services, you can return for lunch at noon.  The menu includes pizza with a variety of toppings (gluten free pizza will be available), salad, and drinks.  There is plenty of food, and lots of conversation so it’s a great time to hang out with your church friends or meet some new ones!

This Sunday is also Pentecost Sunday.  Pentecost is one of the principal days of the Christian year and in the early Church was the second most important part of the Christian year next to Easter.  The Greek word pentecoste means “fiftieth day.” Pentecost is the day on which Christians commemorate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and others assembled in Jerusalem. It marks the beginning of the Christian church and the proclamation of its message throughout the world and is often referred to as the birthday of the church.  The season after Pentecost focuses on the significance of the church as a sign of God’s continuing presence and activity in the world.

We hope you will be able to share some time in worship and in fellowship with us this week on this very important day.

Sterling UMC is a community church and all are welcome to be our guest, attend our services and support our mission efforts.  Please visit our website often for updates.  To subscribe to our weekly email newsletter please send your email contact information to
