LINK Coat Drive and a Special Plea for Mittens and Gloves!

Our LINK Coat Drive is this weekend!   The distribution will occur on November 18 from 8 AM to 3 PM in Gallihugh Hall.  Opportunities to assist with set up on Friday afternoon starting at 1:30 PM  are many!  Also helpers to assist with managing our guests and maintaining the inventory on Saturday; as well as take down are also available!  If you would like to sign up to be a helper please click here.

Donations of your clean coats for men, women, and kids; as well as hats, gloves, mittens can be left at the donation center in the narthex (lobby) up to Friday November 17.

A Special Plea for Mittens and Gloves from Amy:

“For many of the elementary/middle schools and small businesses, collecting coats is a big undertaking.  A simpler option has been to have a glove and/or mitten drive.  As I have reached out to the local schools and businesses, many have either began holding their own coat drives to donate elsewhere or they are now collecting canned goods.

Both are wonderful options—as coats are still being collected and distributed elsewhere and we all know there is a need for food locally…but it means that the number of gloves and mittens collected for the LINK distribution will be less than we have had in the past.

I have been reaching out to as many places as possible for donations and assistance…and God takes care of it all…it is God’s coat drive…”

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Program

Our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox program began on October 29 and there are still plenty of shoe boxes left to fill! Shoeboxes and instructions can be picked up in the church narthex (lobby) in front of the sanctuary.  Completed shoeboxes can be left at the donation center also in the narthex (lobby).  The boxes will need to be collected and delivered to the collection center in Leesburg by November 20 so please drop your shoebox off at the church by Sunday November 19.  Please remember to include the $9.00 per box shipping and handling fee.  For more information about Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe box program click here.

Questions God Asks Us.   Transformation comes from questions, not answers. We instinctively ask questions in the face of the things in life we cannot explain.  The Bible can be seen as a book of questions from God to us.  Our answers to His questions will draw us into a relationship of deeper intimacy with God.… Continue Reading
