We have an active and diverse set of ministries for children of all ages here at Sterling United Methodist Church. We agree that children are God’s gift to us, and we seek to raise them in a safe, fun and nurturing environment.
The heart and soul of our children’s ministry is our Sunday School. Sunday School meets during Sunday morning worship services as follows:
- Ages 0-24 months: Nursery – Room 101
- Ages 2—Kindergarten: Room 100
- 1st – 4th Grade: Workshop Rotation Model (WoRM) Sunday School – Rooms 102-106
- 5th & 6th Grade: Pre-Teen Sunday School – Room 204
- 7th Grade: Confirmation – Room 205
- 8th Grade & High School: Sunday School Forum – Room 03
2-years-old through Kindergarten: Curriculum uses Bible stories, science activities, arts and crafts, animated video, storytelling, and active games to build a “lived-faith” experience that helps children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today.
1st-4th grade use the WoRM Sunday School program. Workshop Rotation Model is an innovative approach, where children learn Bible stories by means of all their senses through dynamic classes including Drama, Storytelling, Media, Games, Art, Cooking, Science, and more.
Each rotation is 4-5 weeks, with students rotating to a different workshop each week to gain a different perspective of a given Bible story. We have written a four-year curriculum to ensure that our students get a broad exposure to the scriptures over their elementary school years.
5th and 6th graders go in-depth into the old, familiar Bible stories with Group’s Grapple curriculum. Grapple is specifically designed to help preteens “grapple” with tough questions in meaningful ways so that they understand and own their faith. As they learn how to search the Bible for answers, they will build a faith foundation that guides wise choices. Class is located in room 204.
11:00 AM Service
2 years old-2nd grade: Children begin worship with their parents in the Contemporary or Amigos services, After Worship song time, children are encouraged to join Noah’s Park Sunday School. Children in 3rd – 5th grade participate as Park Patrol Junior Leaders. At Noah’s Park children will “hike” together through the Adventure Trail that leads to Jesus using crafts, music and more in this exciting Sunday School program! Each Noah’s Park unit will take about four weeks to complete. Class is located in room 106.
Nursery is provided during all four Sunday morning church services. Please remember to pick up your children in a timely manner. Thank you!
