CCM

CONNECT  This group of young adults (single or married, in their 20's or 30's) comes together to figure out what's next in life's journey and seek to put Jesus Christ at the core of their lives.  Various activities and special events are planned throughout the year.  This year we are looking forward to Dinner and Theatre (Sheer Madness), a Car Rally, Summer Concerts, and Cosmic Bowling.

TOGETHER.  Concerts, Movies, Plays, Sports Events ...  Please join us for attendance at one or more activities this year.  Watch for notices in the Sunday bulletin or the monthly newsletter the Fish Rapper.  We would love to have you join us!

United Methodist Men. UMM helps men place Christ at the center of their lives and relationships.  Our first priority is providing you with opportunities to fellowship with other Christian men.  We have breakfast the 2nd Saturday of the month from 8:30 - 9:30 AM in Gallihugh Hall.  We hold other fellowship, sports and service events throughout the year.  Attend as many or few events as you like.

United Methodist Women.  The organized unit of United Methodist Women (UMW) shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.   A pamphlet with more information and a list of officers is available on the welcome table in the church Narthex.

Helping Hands.  Helping Hands is a ministry of the church that assists those who are dealling with an illness, recovering from surgery, or celebrating the birth of a child.  Volunteers take a meal to a person's home, providing not only food, but also company and an extra bit of support.  Helping Hands also provides support to those who have lost a loved one.  Following a funeral or memorial service at the church, volunteers set up a reception, provide food, and serve during the reception.  This gives the family an opportunity to come together and fellowship following the celebration of a loved one's life.

SUMC Prayer Chain.  The prayer chain is truly a blessing to our church and to the members of the prayer chain and to those who are receiving our prayers.  We have seen the power of prayer at work not only in our own lives as we pray for others, but in the recipients of the prayers.  Through prayer we spread God's love and because of prayer we are drawn ever closer to Him.  If you would like to become a member of the prayer chain, contact the Church Office and they will give the Coordinator your name and e-mail address.  You will then begin receiving requests and updates via e-mail.

The Master's Crafters The Master's Crafters meet every Wednesday evening in Room 107 from January through November.  We craft items for our Annual Sale held the first Saturday in November.  The fellowship we share each Wednesday night truly uplifts each of us.  Every year we continue to be amazed at what the Lord leads us to craft and the outcome of our sale.  The proceeds from our sale purchases items off of the church's "wish list."  These are items not in the budget, but which will help in the programs of the Church and in the improvement of the facility.  Each of us has been blessed with many talents and we are so glad the Lord brought us together so we could create for Him and share His love with others.

Coffee Fellowship Volunteers set up a light snack of pre-purchased and home baked goodies along with beverages for church goers to enjoy between services while having fellowship with their fellow church family.  Volunteers also replenish the snack and beverages between the services and clean up when coffee fellowship is over.

Family Ministries.  We believe families have strengths and gifts that should be affirmed, celebrated, and supported.  We provide leadership for special family fellowship activities.  These times of fellowship strengthen our relationships and build community.  We plan special events like the:

  •      Family Rally Day Picnic
  •      Harvest Fest
  •      Advent Fair
  •      Chili Cook-Off
  •      Easter Carnival and Egg Hunt
  •      CrossWalk Wednesday Fellowship
Senior Activity Group (SAG).  Join this social fellowship group designed for church members and non-church members in their mid-fifties and better!  The group meets monthly (4th Sunday from 3-5 PM) and enjoys other scheduled activities outside of the monthly meeting as well.

Sports Ministries. Share in fellowship as we engage in an enjoyable sport and leisure time with friends.  At this time, Sterling UMC has a Men's Softball Team.  Be sure to look for the schedule of the games and come to cheer on the SUMC players!

LifeSigns Youth Fellowship. There is a place for all of our middle and high school youth here at Sterling UMC. Join us for fellowship, service projects, worship, study, retreats, outreach trips, and much more.

LifeSigns Jr. Children's Ministry.  A Children’s Ministry program on Wednesday evenings for children age 3 through 5th grade.  LifeSigns Jr. is a part of CrossWalk Wednesday Night Fellowship.

Emmaus Community. This fellowship is a community of faith, service, and Christian love centered on the 3-day "Walk to Emmaus" spiritual retreat weekends.

Prayers & Squares.  This is an interfaith outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt.
