Congregational Care

Congregational Care

Congregational Care is an important part of our church life at Sterling United Methodist Church. When active participants in our congregation are faced with illness, surgery, new birth or death of a loved one, life is interrupted in unexpected ways. Our care ministry is in place to walk alongside those in life changing moments to ease their way and remind them that we never walk alone.

If you have experienced one of the above mentioned life situations and are in need of assistance from your church, you can be  assured that we will be here to pray with you and for you, visit, bring communion,  offer meals, transportation, prayer blankets, and more.

Prayer Requests

Helping Hands Ministry

Helping Hands is a ministry of the church that assists those who are dealing with an illness, recovering from surgery, or celebrating the birth of a child.  Volunteers take a meal to a person’s home, providing not only food, but also company and an extra bit of support.  Helping Hands also provides support to those who have lost a loved one.  Following a funeral or memorial service at the church, volunteers set up a reception, provide food, and serve during the reception.  This gives the family an opportunity to come together and fellowship following the celebration of a loved one’s life.  If you would like to assist this ministry please provide your contact information here.

Prayer Chain

The prayer chain is truly a blessing to our church, to the members of the prayer chain, and to those who are receiving our prayers.  We have seen the power of prayer at work, not only in our own lives as we pray for others, but in the recipients of the prayers.  Through prayer we spread God’s love and because of prayer we are drawn ever closer to Him.  If you would like to become a member of the prayer chain, contact the church office and they will give the coordinator your name and email address.  You will then begin receiving requests and updates via email.

Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry

Prayers & Squares is an interfaith outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt.  This group meets in the Jacobus Building on the third Thursday of the month from 12:30 to 3:30 PM.  Visitors and new sewers/quilters are encouraged to join us at any time!

Homebound Communion

Our homebound communion visitation team brings communion and a friendly visit to those who cannot join us in worship on Sunday mornings.

Grief to Hope
Join us for a compassionate and supportive online gathering for those experiencing grief. This group provides a safe space to share your feelings, find comfort, and connect with others who understand your journey. Our meetings are held weekly, and everyone is welcome, whether you’re facing a recent loss or have been on this path for some time. Together, we’ll find hope and healing through shared experiences and faith.

This group meets over Zoom; please contact the church office for a link!
