Acting in Service to Christ
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:40 New International Version (NIV)
This Sunday in worship we will learn what it is to be servants of God. What it is like to act in service to those in need, physically, materially, and spiritually. How do we make more disciples of Jesus Christ, and what impact does that have on our own lives?
And if you are a parent with children of all ages you don’t want to miss this Sunday’s 10 AM hour.
For parents and children up through grade six, our orientation to the new Deep Blue Kids Sunday school curriculum will be at 10 AM in room 106. Heather Toth, Director of Children’s Ministries will host a time for discussion, videos, and presentation of the educational materials that make up this year’s curriculum from Deep Blue Kids called Deep Blue Connects: At Home With God.
And for the older kids, those who are seventh grade through high school, and their parents; there will be a meet and greet in the Gallihugh Fellowship Hall with Katie Shifflette, Sterling UMC’s new Director of Youth Ministries and Communications. Come to welcome Katie to Sterling and find out more about her vision for the youth of Sterling UMC.
The detail of our adult studies and activities for the Growing Deeper at Ten hour were announced this week and it is going to be awesome. Visit Growing Deeper at Ten to find out more.
All this is leading up to the kick off of our new year of discipleship that will begin Sunday, September 9. Also on that Sunday, following our morning of worship and study we will celebrate with a Fall Fiesta that will include a food truck with tacos, side dishes, and desserts; games, a moon bounce (weather permitting), a visit by the fire truck; and just a great time to have some fun and be a church family.
And don’t forget Wednesday, September 12 is the start of our new music program rehearsals for those who want to pursue ministry in music; our Wednesday evening fellowship meal; and our mid-week evening small group studies.
Sterling UMC is a community church and all are welcome to be our guest, attend our services and support our mission efforts. Please visit our website often for updates. To subscribe to our weekly email newsletter please send your email contact information to
