SUMC’s Covid-19 Updates
During this time of uncertainty and social distancing, we want to stay connected with the Sterling UMC Community. Below are the ways in which Sterling UMC is approaching the Covid-19 situation and how we want to stay connected with you during this time!
Right now, the best way to stay up to date with Sterling UMC is by following us on facebook and checking your email for our church wide updates. If you do not receive those updates, you can sign up here. If you already subscribe to our list but are not receiving these updates, be sure to check your junk or spam folders – sometimes our emails can get lost in those places.
We know that businesses, schools and other establishments being shut down is daunting. It can be easy to slip into anxiety and panic, so we want to encourage you that God is in control – even over this virus. Take time to connect with each other and with God in new and different ways. We are still able to form community and connections right now – it is just going to look a little different. Please know that we are here for you and your family during this time and do not hesitate to reach out with concerns, prayer requests or needs – we are a church for our community.
In Person Events
Sterling UMC has begun holding small, in-person events following our Health Church Team’s release of “Guidelines and Checklists for Planning Events During a Pandemic.” The following events are now occurring weekly on church property:
- Traditional Indoor Worship: Every Sunday at 10am, Pastor Linda and Pastor Marcela lead a traditional worship service in Sterling UMC’s Gallihugh Hall. Space is limited, so everyone is asked to pre-register no later than the Friday before worship. To pre-register for this worship service, click here.
- Bi-Lingual Indoor Worship: Every Sunday at 10am, Pastor Marcela and Pastor Linda lead a bilingual worship service in Sterling UMC’s Gallihugh Hall. Space is limited, so everyone is asked to pre-register no later than the Friday before worship. To pre-register for this worship service, click here.
- Wednesday Evening Bible Study: Every Wednesday at 7 pm starting on October 14, Jim Gallihugh will lead a Bible Study in Gallihugh Hall. The study will begin by finishing up the book of Acts and then will take suggestions from members of the group as to what to study next. All members are asked to pre-register for the Bible Study every week. If you are interested in attending this study, please click here.
- Youth Group: Every Sunday, our Youth Group meets outside from 6 – 8:30 pm. The group gathers and plays a game followed by a message and time of small groups. It is open to any youth in grades 6 – 12 and everyone is asked to pre-register each week. To register for this event, please click here.
Healthy Church Team
The Healthy Church Team, created of staff and members of the church, is working hard to follow the guidelines of the district, the bishop and the CDC in order to re-open the church as safely as possible. The hours that the building is open have been reduced due to the reduction in church activities and to limit contact. The church office is currently open from 9 AM to 12 PM. Please access through the front entrance and sign in at the sign-in station. Masks are required to be worn in the building.
