LINK Coat Drive on November 16
LINK, Inc. provides emergency food and financial assistance to those in need in the Sterling, Herndon, and Ashburn, Virginia communities. The workers at LINK, Inc. are all volunteers comprised of dedicated local churches, organizations, and individuals. It is supported primarily by donations of food, funds, and other needs for special distributions such as the LINK Coat Drive.
Sterling United Methodist Church serves as a year round drop site for LINK donations. Every November, Sterling UMC hosts the annual LINK Coat Drive which distributes winter coats, hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves to needy families in our community. The Coat Drive is supported by many churches collecting winter gear for the month preceding the distribution, which has seen wonderful success. Last year’s LINK Coat distribution served over 500 families and was able to distribute 2100 gently used and new coats, 1650 hats, gloves, scarves and 1600+ winter clothing items (sweaters, sweatshirts, etc.).
This year’s Coat Drive will be Saturday, November 16 from 8 AM to 3 PM and will be held once again in the Sterling UMC Gallihugh Fellowship Hall.
There are many opportunities to serve in the setup that will occur Friday, November 15 at 1:30 PM as well as the distribution that begins at 8 AM on Saturday.
If you would like to donate clean winter outerwear you may drop off your items to the Sterling UMC lobby donation center.
