On the Road to Healing – Welcoming our First Interim Pastor
On Wednesday, January 22 our beloved Senior Pastor, Steve Vineyard, passed away. It has been such a difficult time in the life of our church, but it has also given us a view into the amount of love present in our community. On Saturday, January 25 we celebrated the life of Steve here at Sterling UMC and there was an overwhelming outpouring of love and support from the Sterling UMC Family and entire Sterling community. This gives us hope – hope for a healing path that will honor Steve and the work that he has done here at Sterling UMC. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for our church and the Vineyard family, to those who have supported the church both physically and emotionally – your efforts have not gone unnoticed and they are so very appreciated.
As we begin down the road of grief and healing, there is a definite need for support during this difficult time. As part of that support, we are happy to welcome our first Interim Pastor, Rev. Rudy Tucker. Rudy is recently retired and previously served as the Senior Pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Manassas, VA. Rudy will be with us for 3 weeks as we begin the process of healing before a more permanent Interim Pastor will join us in mid February and stay until late June.
Pastor Tucker is here to offer support and love as well as guidance down the path of healing that we are just beginning. Please join us in welcoming him to the Sterling UMC Family over these next few weeks.
Sterling UMC is a community church and all are welcome to be our guest, attend our services and support our mission efforts. For updates on upcoming events, activities and services subscribe to our weekly newsletter.
