On the Road to Healing – Welcoming Our Permanent Interim Pastor
As we continue to heal from the passing of our beloved Pastor Steve Vineyard last month, we have been humbled by the support and love of our surrounding community. From the outpouring of prayers and care from other local churches, to the Sterling UMC church members who have stepped up to serve in new ways – we have been blown away by this amazing community. The next few months will continue to be filled with transitions, and it will not be an easy road, but with each change we will grow stronger together.
This past Sunday, we said goodbye to our first interim Pastor, Rev. Rudy Tucker. Pastor Rudy served Sterling UMC for the past 3 weeks and in such difficult time, he helped us start on the road to healing. We certainly wish him well as he returns to retirement.
Now, we are very excited to announce our permanent Interim Pastor, Rev. Larry Buxton. He will join us for his first service this Sunday, February 23 and serve alongside us until late June when our new appointed pastor will join our congregation. Larry is a retired United Methodist Pastor and has served the United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. Most recently, he has been serving at Herndon UMC as the part-time Minister of Visitation and as an adjunct faculty member at Wesley Theological Seminary. We are excited that he is here for the next four months to share his experience and skills with the Sterling UMC community as we continue along the path of healing.
We hope that you will join us on Sunday, February 23 to give Pastor Larry a warm welcome as he joins our Sterling UMC Family.
Sterling UMC is a community church and all are welcome to be our guest, attend our services and support our mission efforts. For updates on upcoming events, activities and services subscribe to our weekly newsletter.
