Mar Crowe

Hello Friends! My name is Mar (short for Mary). I am a native Virginian grew up in Fairfax. Today, I live, work and worship all in the Sterling zip code. I have 3 adult sons. I have been attending a Celebrate Recovery (CR) since February 2016. Walking in feeling broken and alone. And what I found was a relationship with Jesus Christ and a community that I always wanted but never knew how much I needed.  From working the 12 steps and living out the 8 Principles of CR I have found freedom from many of my life long hurts.

Celebrate Recovery changed my life and has become part of who I am now. I’ve served in several leadership roles at a couple of different locations. And most recently, launched a CR at Sterling UMC in November 2022. I became a CR VA State Rep in Sept 2023. In this new role I will encourage CR’s in the DMV and walk along side churches who want to launch a CR.

Outside of ministry, I am always willing to meet up for coffee and you will often see me with paint on my hands as painting in my free time is my happy place. It’s how I connect to God and myself.
