Super Sunday at Sterling UMC
This Sunday, the New England Patriots will square off against the Los Angeles Rams in Superbowl LIII at 6:30 EST. However, the Superbowl isn’t the only exciting thing happening on Sunday!
The Sterling United Methodist Women will have their annual Super Bowl Pancake Breakfast from 8 AM until 12:30 PM in the church’s Gallihugh Fellowship Hall. For the full menu and pricing check out this page. All proceeds from the breakfast go towards UMW missions outreach.
And, to up the stakes a little bit, the ladies are asking you to “wager” on your favorite team by donating gloves, scarves, or hats into the boxes designated as Rams or Patriots in the lobby of the church. The box containing the most items will help Puxsatawney Phil’s cousin, Rosie, predict which team will win the Superbowl! All items collected will go to those in need this winter or the November LINK Coat Drive.
Also on Super Sunday, Pastor Steve continues his sermon series “God’s Messy Family” with part four “The Death of Sarah,” based on the book God’s Messy Family: Finding Your Place When Life Isn’t Perfect written by Jacob Armstrong. This is the fourth sermon in this sermon series as Pastor Steve continues to discuss the realities of living in a messy world and realizing that God still loves us even when life isn’t perfect.
To close out the day, Youth Connections, Sterling UMC’s Youth Ministry, will host a Super Bowl party for the youth, their friends, and any young person interested in watching the game. Join them in the Youth Room at 6 PM to cheer on the Rams or the Patriots and enjoy some friendly competition!
And speaking of youth – tickets are now on sale for our youth musical “Godspell.” Performances will be March 1 at 7 PM, March 2 at 2 PM and 7 PM, and March 3 at 2 PM. Tickets are available online or on Sunday mornings in the lobby. For more information, check out our Youth Ministries page.
Sterling UMC is a community church and all are welcome to be our guest, attend our services and support our mission efforts. For updates on upcoming events, activities and services visit our website or subscribe to our weekly email newsletter.
